"The Fields of Burren" Co. Clare

Previous

Next

Here are some of the absolute oldest fields in all the British Isles. This is a view from atop a mountain, overlooking the famous Burren region located in County Clare. Located at the northwest part of County Clare on the famous Galway Bay. The hill mountain you see atop is grey because what you see is limestone that has been upturned by natural erosion, and mans habitation for thousands of years. The geography of this region is fascinating for sure, and so is the serene beauty. On top of a hill like this, Cambridge University scientists excavated one of several stone domicile dwellings, that produced the skeletal remains and artifacts of ancient Irish ancestors that were carbon dated over seven thousand years ago. Yes its true, and yes it pre-dates Stonehenge by a few thousand years or so.
